2. Hard starting
Cylinder compression check
1)
Remove spark plug cap and spark plug.
2) Install a compression gauge in the spark plug hole,
crank the engine several times with the recoil starter
and measure cylinder compression

②
Remove the spark plug and
check for wet electrodes
③
Put the spark plug on the
cap, ground the electrode,
then, pull the starter and check
④
Measure cylinder compression:
put the compression gauge on the
spark plug hole and pull starter
several times, check cylinder
compression
⑤
Reinstall the spark plug
securely and restart the engine
according
to
the
starting
procedure.
●
Add fuel and restart the engine
●
Check for blockage of the fuel tube or
fuel filter
●
Check for blockage in the carburetor
port and nozzle.
●
Dry electrodes and restart, taking care
that the choke is not closed too much.
●
If flooding is severe, check if fuel
leaks form carburetor
●
Perform the spark test again using a
new spark plug
●
Check for volt leakage caused by
damaged high tension wire insulation
●
Check ignition coils (readjust P40
(4-5))
●
Check that the tappet clearance is
correct.
●
Check whether cylinder head is
tightened appropriately.
●
Check
for
deposits
in
the
combustion chamber.
●
Check whether cylinder head
gasket, valve cone and valve seat
are correct
●
Check for worn piston, piston rings
or cylinder.
