GFCI
TESTING
AND
RESETTING
PROCEDURE
The GFCI should be properly tested at least once
everymonthorwheneveritistripped.Toproperlytest
andresettheGFCI:
•If the GFCI has tripped, first carefully remove any
loadandcheckitfordamage.
•If the equipment has been shut down, it must be
restarted.
•The equipment needs to be operating at high idle
speedandanynecessaryadjustmentsmadeonthe
control panel so that the equipment is providing at
least80voltstothereceptacleinputterminals.
•The circuit breaker for this receptacle must not be
tripped.Resetifnecessary.
•Push the "Reset" button located on the GFCI. This
willassurenormalGFCIoperation.
•Pluganight-light(withan"ON/OFF"switch)orother
product(suchasalamp)intotheDuplexreceptacle
andturntheproduct"ON".
•Push the "Test" button located on the GFCI. The
night-lightorotherproductshouldgo"OFF".
•Push the "Reset" button, again. The light or other
productshouldgo"ON"again.
If the light or other product remains "ON" when the
"Test"buttonispushed,theGFCIisnotworkingprop-
erly or has been incorrectly installed (miswired). If
yourGFCIisnotworkingproperly,contactaqualified,
certified electrician who can assess the situation,
rewiretheGFCIifnecessaryorreplacethedevice.
