Sound Cars
THE MODEL
With an electronic LGB Sound
Car, it is easy to add sound to
your LGB train. You don't need
tools or technical knowledge. Just
put the car on the track and plug it
into an LGB locomotive. It's that
simple! Sound cars are available
with the sounds of steam and
diesel locos, with melodies and
animal sounds.
THE PROGRAM
With this model, we recommend
the following items:
- 55021 MTS Loco Decoder II (for
sound cars with locomotive
sounds)
-
55034 MTS Rolling Stock
Decoder (for melody sound
cars)
- 67403 Ball Bearing Wheel Sets,
2 pieces
For information on the complete
LGB program, see the LGB cata-
log.
OPERATION
Preparation
Battery:
For best operation on
conventional analog layouts, a
standard 9V battery should be
installed in this model. The battery
is not included with the model.
To install the battery, remove the
roof of the model. Attach the bat-
tery to the battery cable inside the
model (Fig. 1, 2). Reassemble.
Attention!
Use a high-quality bat-
tery, like an "alkaline" battery.
Remove the battery when the
model is in storage. Dispose of
used batteries properly.
Hint:
When operating the model
with the Multi-Train System, the
battery is not necessary.
Power Cable:
This model can be
connected to an LGB locomotive
equipped with a multi-purpose
socket. Plug the power cable from
the model into the socket on the
locomotive (Fig. 3).
The power cable on this model is
equipped with a "flat" plug.
Volume Control
The volume control is located on
the printed circuit board inside the
model (Fig. 1, 2).
Steam and Diesel Sound Cars:
The locomotive sounds are volt-
age dependent. When the track
voltage is zero, there is no sound.
When the track voltage is low, you
hear the sound of a loco moving
slowly. When the track voltage is
high, the sound is that of a fast-
moving loco.
Track voltage must not exceed 24
volts.
Melody Sound Cars:
The melody
plays when there is voltage on the
tracks. If the track voltage is
turned off, the melody continues
to the end of the song.
Hint:
The electronic circuit of the
Melody Sound Cars is always on,
even when no melody is playing.
To save batteries, turn off the
sound circuit using the manual
On/Off switch.
Multi-Train System
Steam and Diesel Sound Cars:
This model has a direct decoder
interface. For Multi-Train System
operation, it can be equipped with
one LGB MTS Loco Decoder
(55020/55021). The MTS Decoder
Interface Cable (55026) iis
not
required.
We strongly recommend decoder
installation by an LGB service
station. For more information,
contact your authorized LGB
retailer or an LGB service station
(see
Authorized Service
).
Hint:
If this model is equipped
with a decoder, the digital/analog
DIP switches on the circuit board
must be set from "No Decoder" to
"Decoder." The DIP switches
should remain in this setting, even
if the model is used on an analog
layout.
Melody Sound Cars:
These cars
can be used on Multi-Train Sys-
tem layouts without modifications.
