Wireless Distribution System (WDS)
When WDS is enabled, the Router functions as a wireless repeater and is
able to wireless communicate with other APs via WDS links. WDS allows you
to connect Access Points wirelessly and extend a wired infrastructure to
locations where cabling is impossible or difficult to implement.
To create a WDS network, enter the MAC addresses of the Access Points
that you want included in the WDS links. There can be a maximum of four
access points.
Important
:
•
A WDS link is bidirectional; so this AP must know the MAC Address of
the other AP, and the other AP must also have a WDS link back to
this AP.
Make sure the APs are configured with the same Channel
and Security settings
.
•
Compatibility between different brands and models is not guaranteed.
It is recommended that the WDS network be created using products
from the same manufacturer for maximum compatibility.
