Ink Sensor Service Check
If you are instructed to remove the ink cartridge assembly, it is rec-
ommended that you remove all ink cartridges, carefully drain the ink
from the lines into a plastic-lined waste can or absorbent material,
then replace the cartridges and wrap a packet of cleaning cloths or
paper towels over the connector end, secured with a rubber band.
Keep the assembly on a level plane while servicing with the black
cartridge end slightly elevated. Cover any open ink lines with absor-
bent cloth, secured with a rubber band, when possible.

1 Ink Cartridge The ink sensor determines whether an individual ink
cartridge is empty and causes an error code.
Remove the ink cartridge. Hold a cloth over the sen-
sor end, and gently shake the cartridge. If you do not
feel or hear ink movement in the cartridge, replace it.
