Plug-In mode
When you use the MX500 as a hardware plug-in in a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW)
via FireWire
TM
, some System menu options become locked and display the message
“PLUGIN MODE “. This only happens when the MX500 is opened and being used in
your computer recording application. When you delete the instance of the MX500 in
the recording application, the locked System menu options become unlocked and return
to their previous settings. During Plug-in mode, 1/4" analog inputs and S/PDIF inputs
and outputs are disabled; only the 1/4" analog outputs are functional.
The System menu options that are locked out during Plug-in mode are:
Configuration
Digital Out A
Input Source A
Digital Out B
Input Source B
Factory Restore
Clock Source
SyStem menu
The MX500 System menu is where global settings are configured. These include
Surround, Stereo, or Dual Stereo Configuration, Program Auto Load, Output Level,
and Factory Restore. Changes made to these settings affect all programs in all
Configurations. Press the
System
button to access these menus. Turn the

knob to scroll up and down through the available menus. Press the
Exit
button
to exit the System Menu.
Configuration
Use this menu to select what kind of processor you want the MX500 to
run as (Surround, Stereo, or as a Dual Stereo processor). Use
Knob A
to
change the MX500's configuration. See page 8 ("About the MX500") for
more information on configurations.
Contrast
This utility adjusts the contrast of the
Main Display
to make it more vis-
ible at different viewing angles. Use
Knob B
to adjust the display’s view-
ing angle to your liking.
Program Load
MX500 programs can be loaded manually or automatically as each pro-
gram is selected. The default setting is Manual. Use
Knob C
to select
which method of program loading you need.
