TROUBLE SHOOTING
Problem
The power is not on.
Connect the AC power cord securely to a wall outlet.
Make sure the batteries are inserted correctly and
are not worn out.
There is no sound.
Make sure the FUNCTION switch is in the correct
position.
Adjust the volume.
Unplug the headphones when listening
through the speakers.

when a CD is in place.
Insert the CD with the label side up.
CD does not play.
Make sure that the CD compartment is closed.
Clean the CD.
Remove the CD and leave the CD DOOR open for
about an hour to get rid of moisture condensation.
Make sure the FUNCTION switch is in the CD position.
Sound is weak or sound quality is
poor.
Replace all the batteries with new ones if
they are low, move the player close to a
window for better MW reception or rotate it
for better FM reception.
The RECORD button does not
function/The tape does not play.
Make sure the safety tab on the cassette
is in place (see page 20).
Make sure the FUNCTION switch is in the
TAPE position.
The tape does not erase
completely.
Clean the erasing head (see page 21).
Replace all the batteries with new ones if they are
low.
The tape does not record.
Make sure the tape is inserted correctly.
Make sure the safety tab on the cassette is in place.
Sound is weak or sound quality is
poor.
Clean the heads, pinch roller and capstan
(see page 21).
General

Tape player
Cassette PLAY button pops up.
The tape has reached the end of one side. Remove,
turn over and re-insert.

VFD display does not light up.
You may be using battery power. The VFD display
will only light up when AC power is used.
Remedy
It is normal since the radio uses less power than
the CD player.
The sound drops out.
CD does not play while radio may
continue to play.
Clean the CD or replace it if it is badly damaged.
Place the player in a location free from vibrations.
Check that the batteries are not worn out.
Tape jamming or tangling
Use only better quality tapes.
Do not use a cassette with more than 90 minutes.
Make sure there are no loose layers of tape visible
before inserting the cassette.
