Whenever you login to your
laptop at home
there are a few things to keep in mind -
When you login the laptop is not connecting to the Alvin ISD network. It will load
your local profile from the computer.
You will not have a connection to the network drives. The only way you can gain
access to your U: drive is through the Alvin ISD Cloud.
You must follow the procedures of your local internet provider to connect to your
home network.
It’s critical that you bring your laptop back to work every day so the proper virus
definitions (protection) can be loaded.
Use the Outlook Web Mail
on the internet when you take your laptop home. This can be
accessed at
https://webmail.alvinisd.net/
.
The desktop version of Outlook
should not be used
when you take your laptop home.
Whenever you open it you will see what is called a “cached” copy of your inbox.
This will
not be the same as at school
when you are on the network, so
don’t use
the desktop
version of Outlook at home.
If you go to your email through the
Alvin ISD Cloud
at
https://cloud.alvinisd.net
, you can
use the desktop version of Outlook, but only in the Alvin ISD Cloud.
