10. Position the new power supply in the computer and align the four screw holes in the new power supply
with those in the computer main bracket. Install the four screws to secure the new power supply.
11. Route the new power cord connector cable and then position the power cord connector bracket on the
bottom of the computer main bracket.
12. Align the two screw holes in the power cord connector bracket with those in the computer main bracket
and install the two screws to secure the power cord connector bracket.
13. Connect the new power supply cable to the power supply connector on the system board. See “System
board connectors” on page 70.
14. Reinstall the hard disk drive. See “Replacing the hard disk drive” on page 80.
15. Reinstall the rear I/O assembly cover. See “Removing or reinstalling the rear I/O assembly cover”
on page 74.
16. Go to “Completing the parts replacement” on page 110.

This section provides instructions on how to replace the inverter.
To replace the inverter, do the following:
1. Remove all media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the computer. Then, disconnect
all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the computer.
2. Place a soft, clean towel or cloth on the desk or surface. Hold the sides of your computer and gently lay
it down so that the screen is against the surface and the cover is facing up.
3. Remove the computer cover. See “Removing the computer cover” on page 71.
4. Locate the inverter in the computer. See “FRU locations” on page 69.
5. Remove the hard disk drive. See “Replacing the hard disk drive” on page 80.
6. Remove the optical drive. See “Replacing the optical drive” on page 81.
7. Remove the right I/O assembly. See “Replacing the right I/O assembly” on page 99.
8. Remove the card reader. See “Replacing the card reader” on page 96.
9. Remove the two screws that secure the inverter to the main bracket, and disconnect the three cables.
