for gas. Be sure to smell next to the floor because some 

gas is heavier than air and will settle on the floor.

  WHat to do iF You sMeLL Gas

  Extinguish any open flame.

  Open windows.

  Do not light any appliance.

  Do not touch any electrical switches.

  Do not use any phone in your building.

  Immediately  call  your  gas  supplier  from  a  neighbor’s 

phone.

  If  your  gas  supplier  cannot  be  reached,  call  the  fire 

department.

 Use only your hand to turn the gas control lever. Never 

use tools. If the lever will not turn by hand, do not try 

to repair it, call a qualified service technician. Force or 

attempted repair may result in a fire or an explosion.

d.

 Do not use this appliance if any part has been under 

water. Immediately call a qualified service technician 

to inspect the appliance and to replace any part of the 

control system and any gas control which has been under 

water.

LiGHtinG instructions — eLectronic

1.

 For complete shut-down, turn remote wall switch to “OFF" 

or set the thermostat to the lowest setting, if applicable.

2.

 Turn the ON/OFF switch to “OFF”. If step 1 is not applicable.

3. 

Turn off all electric power to the appliance and remove 

backup batteries if service is to be performed or for 

extended shutdown.

 Read the safety information above on this page.

2.

 Turn remote wall switch to “OFF" or set wall thermostat 

to lowest setting.  If used, remove the batteries from the 

battery holder.

3.

 This appliance is equipped with an ignition device which 

automatically lights the pilot.  Do not try to light the pilot 

by hand.

4.

 Push the unit mounted "ON/OFF" switch to the "OFF" posi-

tion.

5.

 Allow sufficient length of time (minimum 5 minutes) for 

any gas in the combustion chamber to escape.  If you 

still smell gas, STOP!  Follow “B” in the safety informa-

tion above on this page. If you do not smell gas, go to the 

next step.

6. 

 Push the unit mounted "ON/OFF" switch back to the "ON" 

position.  (The "ON/OFF" switch may include a wall switch 

if so equipped).  Replace the batteries in the battery 

holder, if used.  If the burner does not light or stay lit after 

several tries, turn the unit mounted "ON/OFF" switch to 

the "OFF" position and call your service technician or gas 

supplier.  NOTE: Sufficient time must be allowed for air to 

escape from lines if the unit is being lit for the first time.

7.

 Turn HI-LO burner control knob to desired setting and  

close control door. 

8.

 Set thermostat to desired setting if applicable.

9. 

If the appliance will not operate, follow the instructions 

"To Turn Off Gas To Appliance" and call your service tech-

nician or gas supplier.

1. 

Turn off all electrical power to the appliance (remote wall 

switch) or set the thermostat to the lowest setting, if ap-

plicable.  Or remove batteries, if used.
