5 APPENDIX 2 : DESCRIPTION OF
TERMINAL MARKING
The terminal blocks are always marked with two digits and one letter at the top or
bottom of a block of 8 inputs, analog either digital.
The left digit represents the MULDEX card number (5626 board) which controls
these 8 inputs; this number may vary from 1 to 3, because there are maximum 3 such
cards in a BEN5000.
The right digit represents the ACQUISITION CONTROLLER card number (5623
board) connected to the MULDEX card; this number may vary from 1 to 8, because
there are maximum 8 such cards connected to one MULDEX.
The letter represents the group of 8 channels controlled by the ACQUISITION
CONTROLLER card. Remember that an acquisition controller card controls up to 8
analog channels and 24 digital channels.
The letter 'A' corresponds to the terminal block of the 8 analog channels.
The letter 'B' corresponds to the terminal block of the first 8 digital channels.
The letter 'C' corresponds to the terminal block of the next 8 digital channels.
The letter 'D' corresponds to the terminal block of the last 8 digital channels.
Furthermore, each terminal is individually marked with a white plastic number.
The terminals marked "1" to "8" correspond to the POSITIVE inputs of the channels
1 to 8 of one group, analog either digital.
The terminals marked "11" to "18" correspond to the NEGATIVE inputs of the
channels 1 to 8 of one group, analog either digital.
The terminals marked "10" correspond to the NEGATIVE common return inputs for
one group of 8 digital channels.
The following example represents a terminal block of 8 analog channels:
