Retrofit Kit contents:
• (2) 4’ T8-LED lamp tubes
• (1) T8-LED driver
• (2) Five Wire Connectors
• (1) POSITIVE label
• (1) NEGATIVE label
• (1) LAMP REPLACEMENT label
• (1) RETROFIT label
1. Cut power to luminaire.
2. Open luminaire door (if equipped.)
3. Depending on fixture design, remove reflector\diffuser assembly. (see Figure 1)
4. Remove fluorescent lamps.
5. Remove luminaire wireway access cover.
6. Look at fluorescent ballast, and determine if ballast is either ‘Instant Start,’ or ‘Programmed\Rapid Start.’ This information is usually
found on the ballast data label. Save this information for step 9 and 10.
7. Cut all wires connected to the fluorescent ballast. Cuts should be close (3-4") to the ballast, and not include any pre-existing splices.
Strip ends of fixture wires approx. 3/8". Remove ballast.
8. Install LED driver in luminaire, using the existing fluorescent ballast mounting. Note: ONLY install Kenall LED driver provided with this
kit; use of a different driver may damage the LED lamp tubes and void warranty.
9. Wire LED driver to lamp holder sockets:
10. If ‘Instant Start’: (see above step 5) insert cut RED wire into (+) RED wire\connector of LED driver. Insert cut BLUE wires into (-) BLUE
wire\connector of LED driver. (See diagram 1)
11. If ‘Programmed\Rapid Start:’ (see above step 5) insert cut RED and BLUE wires into (+) RED wire\connector of LED driver. Insert cut
YELLOW wires into (-) BLUE wire connector of LED driver. (See diagram 2)
12. Wire LED driver to line power: (See diagram 3) depending on driver, connect LED driver GREEN wire to fixture ground. If no GREEN
wire is present on LED driver, disregard - the LED driver is case grounded. Connect LED driver BLACK wire to fixture (BLACK or
ORANGE) line wire (120-277VAC, 50/60Hz only.) Connect LED driver WHITE wire to fixture (WHITE) neutral wire.
13. Attach fixture retrofit labels: (see figure 2) Refer to wiring, and identify positive and negative lamp holder socket brackets. Apply
POSITIVE (+) label in a conspicuous location to positive lamp holder socket bracket. Apply NEGATIVE (-) label in a conspicuous
location to negative lamp holder socket bracket. Attach LAMP REPLACEMENT label next to, or close to original fixture data label. Do
not cover existing label. Apply
RETROFIT label in a conspicuous location on fixture. (e.g., on internal reflector or diffuser assembly,
visible during re-lamp or service)
14. Install LED lamp tubes. Caution: Correct LED lamp polarity must be observed during installation and
operation. Failure to install LED lamp tubes with the correct polarity may damage lamp tubes and LED driver.
(See Figure 3) Note positive and negative ends of LED lamp tube; install positive and negative ends with corresponding positive and
negative lamp holder socket brackets. Ensure LED lamp tube is installed with
frosted or clear lens aimed toward illuminated surface.
15. Install luminaire wireway access cover.
16. Install reflector\diffuser assembly.
17. Close luminaire door.
18. Apply power; check for proper operation.
