4.1
Initial Alignment
When the system is first installed, a complete alignment of the laser transmitter and receiver
is required. Refer to
Lazer Safe Alignment Reference Guide (LS-CS-M-017)
for detailed
step by step instructions on how to perform a full alignment.
4.2
Mounting Brackets
The vertical bracket is manufactured from lightweight alloy extrusion, providing a strong and
stable platform for the laser transmitter and receiver, which ensures accurate laser alignment
during machine operation.

Tool Change
When changing the upper tools, the brackets can be quickly moved up and locked clear so
that the punch can be removed from the ends of the press beam. To release the vertical
bracket unscrew the locking handle, raise the transmitter/receiver above the tools and relock.
Caution:
Always support the transmitter/receiver before releasing the locking handle. If the
vertical bracket is not supported when the lock is released it will drop under its
own weight to the vertical end stop. This may result in damage to the vertical
bracket or the transmitter/receiver.

Adjustment After Tool Change
Whenever the machine tools are changed it is necessary to check that the laser is horizontal,
and at the distance below the new punch. The laser to punch distance is set during the
installation of the Defender system, according to the stopping performance of the machine
