8. ROUTINE MAINTENANCE
8.1. DESCALING
The formation of limestone is a normal consequence of
use of the appliance. Therefore, the machine needs to
be descaled every 3-4 months of use and/or when you
note irregular dispensing.
The descaling cycle is requested by the machine (if the
TECHNICAL MENU is enabled, see Chapter 7.2.2.2
Care) by way of the relative display signal:

The cycle may be activated at any time even if the
unit does not require it.
To perform descaling, you must:
a) check that there are no capsules inside the loading
compartment;
b) access to

confirm with the MULTIFUNCTION BUTTON;

c) pull out the drip tray and the used capsule tray,
empty it and re-insert it in the unit;
d) place a large container underneath the dispensing
spout;
e) connect the milk tube to the drip tray through the
hole on the grid;
f) if present, remove the softener filter from the tank;
g) empty the tank and fill it with a solution consisting of
the LAVAZZA descaling product and water, as indi-
cated on the package of the descaling product;
h) press the MULTI-FUNCTION KEY to start the cycle.
During the descaling cycle, the unit will pause several
times to allow the container to be emptied.
i) Once the tank has been emptied, the cycle will be
temporarily interrupted;
j) pull out the used drip tray / capsule tray, empty it
and re-insert it in the unit;
k) remove the tank, rinse it well and fill it with cold
drinking water, put it back in place and place a con-
tainer underneath the dispenser spout;
l) check that the milk tube is always inserted in the
hole located on the drip grid;
m) press the MULTI-FUNCTION KEY to start rinsing;
[the machine will pause several times to allow the con-
tainer to be emptied].
To end the rinsing cycle, a minimum quantity of water
must be dispensed. Top up the tank if necessary.
Once the rinsing is complete, empty the used drip tray /
capsule tray, empty it and re-insert it in the unit.
If present, remove the softener filter from the tank.
Note
To descale the machine, use a non-toxic, non-harm-
ful LAVAZZA descaling product.
Attention
Do not descale the machine with vinegar.
8.2. CLEANING
Attention
Before cleaning the machine, make sure it is un-
plugged and wait for it to cool off.
For correct and long-lasting use of the machine, it is
recommended to:
- rinse the tank daily and fill it with cold drinking water;
- empty and clean the drip tray/used capsules container
every 2/3 days or when it is full;
- clean the dispenser spout weekly, dispensing water a
few times without inserting the capsule;
- rinse the milk module after dispensing a milk based
beverage through the “FROTHER RINSING” function
in the unit menu
- perform the weekly cleaning of the milk tube through
the “CLEAN MILK SPOUT” function in the unit menu
- unless there are specific indications, clean the exter-
nal components of the machine (except for the elec-
tric components) using non-abrasive cloths/sponges
soaked in cold/lukewarm water.
