1. With the power turned off, insert the SSerial-PCI/LP card into any 

free PCI slot in your PC. Make sure the card is well seated. Turn your 
PC on and start Windows.

 

2. Windows will automatically detect the SSerial-PCI/LP as a new PCI 

Serial Controller and ask you to insert the Installation CD. The 
installation files are located in the root directory of this disk. 
Windows may display a message to the effect that the drivers are 
not digitally signed. This warning can be ignored.

 
 

3. After the necessary files have been copied, Windows will 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

automatically complete the installation of the SSerial-PCI/LP by 

 

 

 

 

assigning it a Com number and IRQ. During this process, a LAVA 

 

 

 

   

SSerial-PCI entry will be created in Device Manager.

 

 

 

 

To view this configuration in Windows 95/98/Me, click Start | Settings | 
Control Panel | System | Device Manager | Ports.

 

To view this configuration in Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7, click Start | 
Settings | Control Panel | System, then choose the Hardware tab and 
click on Device Manager. Choose the Devices by Type view option 
"Ports".

Note: Installation instructions for Windows NT 4.0 are located in the NT 
4.0 directory on the Installation CD.

Modifying I/O Address and IRQ Resources in Device Manager

is NOT recommended. 

Changing the Com numbering of your SSerial-

PCI/LP port (Windows 95/98/Me only)

Unless you already have more than 4 Com Ports installed in your PC, 
Windows will by default configure the SSerial-PCI/LP as Com 5. If you 
wish to change this assigned Com number (e.g. reassign Com 5 to be
