OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
TO USE AS AN OUTDOOR FIREPLACE
1. Make sure you have read and understand all "Rules for Safe
Operation" on page 1 before using the QuadQue.
2. Locate and gather firewood to be burned for the fire. Use firewood
that is no longer than 16" in length.
3. Open the Fire Chamber doors so they rest against the main body.
Keep the Cooking Chamber doors closed.
4. Open the Top Damper wide open.
5. Place the firewood in the Fire Chamber. Stack the firewood loosely
so that fire and air can easily consume the firewood.
6. Start the fire using kindling or use a fire starter such as Landmann
Fire Starter.
7. Place the Spark Screen Panel on the QuadQue. The Spark Screen
Panel must be used at all times when the QuadQue is being used as
an outdoor fireplace.
8. Tend the fire as needed.
1. Make sure you have read and understand all "Rules for Safe
Operation" on page 1 before using the QuadQue.
2. For best results use a metal charcoal starter and fill the starter with
about 3 lbs of charcoal and light the charcoal.
3. After about 30 minutes, dump the charcoal into the bottom of the Fire
Chamber on the Charcoal Grate.
4. Adjust the Top Damper vent to 3/4 open.
5. Immediately and carefully place another 3 lbs of charcoal on top of
the burning coals in the Fire Chamber.
6. Wait another 30 minutes for the charcoal to set and reach optimum
burn temperature.
7. The temperature on the gauge should be around 350 degrees.
8. Meat and food can now be added to the Cooking Grates in the
Cooking Chamber.
9. Cook meat and food to your personal preference.
TO USE AS A GRILL
Note that several hours are needed to cook with this method.
1. Make sure you have read and understand all "Rules for
Safe Operation" on page 1 before using the QuadQue.
2. For best results use a metal charcoal starter and fill the
starter with about 3 lbs of charcoal and light the charcoal.
3. After about 30 minutes, dump the charcoal into the
bottom of the Fire Chamber on the Charcoal Grate.
4. Adjust the Top Damper vent to 3/4 open.
5. Immediately and carefully place another 3 lbs of charcoal
on top of the burning coals in the Fire Chamber.
6. Wait another 30 minutes for the charcoal to set and reach
optimum burn temperature.
7. The temperature on the gauge should be around 350
degrees.
8. At this time, water can be added to the Water Pan for
moistening the Cooking Chamber. Use caution when
adding the water as hot steam can burn you! Do not fill
the water pan more than half-full. Add water as needed.
9. Now add about 1-2 lbs of wood chunks to the Fire
Chamber. The best types of wood for flavor and smoke
are Pecan, Hickory and Mesquite. The smoke will be
heavy at first and after a short while will burn with less
smoke. The temperature will spike when the wood is
first added.
10. When the temperature settles back down in the 250-350
range, you are ready to add meat or food to the Cooking
Chamber.
11. As a general rule, you will need to add more wood when
the temperature drops below 250 degrees. 1-2 lbs of
wood will burn for about 1 hour. Each pound of meat
will take 1 hour to cook. These are general rules and
will vary depending on your actual conditions.
12. Cook meat and food to your personal preference.
