Maintenance

Proper servicing and adjustments are key to the long life
of any implement. With careful inspection and routine
maintenance, you can avoid costly downtime and repair.

The parts on your Scarifier have been specially designed
and should only be replaced with genuine Land Pride
parts.

After several hours of use and on a regular basis
thereafter check all bolts and pins to be sure they are
tight. Replace worn, damaged, or missing parts.

Replace any worn, damaged, or illegible safety alert
labels by obtaining new labels from your Land Pride
dealer.

Do not alter the Scarifier in a way which will adversely
affect its performance.

!

WARNING!

Never work under the Scarifier

without blocking it up properly

first. The Scarifier can fall causing bodily injury or death.
Equipment supported by hydraulics can drop instantly if
controls are actuated or if hydraulic lines burst even when
power to hydraulics is shut off.

!

DANGER!

Always support underside of Scarifier with solid supports
before working beneath unit. Never work under equipment
supported by hydraulics. Hydraulics can drop equipment
instantly if controls are actuated even when power to
hydraulics is shut off.

!

CAUTION!

Do not alter Land Pride equipment or replace parts with other
brands. Doing so can cause equipment to perform improperly
and may lead to breakage that can cause bodily injury.
Replace parts only with genuine Land Pride parts.

Shank Tips

Refer to Figure 4-1:

Shank tips are removable by heating them in the dimpled
area on both sides and knocking them off with a blunt
punch. New shank tips need to be dimpled with a punch
after they are installed. Use Land Pride shank tips only.

Long Term Storage

Clean, inspect, service, and make necessary repairs to
the Scarifier when parking it for long periods and when
parking it at the end of a working season. This will help
ensure that the Scarifier is ready for field use the next
time you hook-up to it.

1.

Clean off any dirt or grease that may have
accumulated on the Scarifier. Scrape off compacted
dirt and then wash the surface thoroughly with a
garden hose.

2.

Check teeth for wear and replace if necessary.

3.

Inspect Scarifier for loose, damaged, or worn parts.
Adjust and tighten loose parts or replace if needed.

4.

Clean dirt, oil, and grease from areas where paint
has been worn, chipped, or scratched. Prime bare
metal surfaces after cleaning and repaint to prevent
rust. Ask your dealer for Land Pride aerosol touch-up
paint. They are also available in touch-up bottles with
brush, quarts, and gallon sizes by adding TU, QT, or
GL to the end of the aerosol part number.

5.

Replace all damaged or missing decals.

6.

Apply a light coat of oil or grease may be applied to
the teeth to minimize oxidation.

7.

Follow unhooking instructions when disconnecting
Scarifier from tractor. Refer to “Unhook Scarifier” on
the left-hand side of this page.

Store Scarifier in a clean, dry place. Inside storage
will reduce maintenance and make for a longer
Scarifier life.

Lay unit down on the ground or ensure that the
main frame is stable by using auxiliary supports
such as posts planted in the ground to prevent the
possibility of the unit tipping over.
