Tractor Hook-Up

Refer to Figure 1-2:

!

DANGER!

Tractor hook-up to equipment is dangerous and can result in
serious injury or death. Do not allow anyone to stand between
the Scarifier and tractor during hook-up operations. Do not
operate the hydraulic 3-Point lift controls while someone is
directly behind the tractor or near the Scarifier.

A 3-Point Category I is required. The lower 3-Point arms
of the 3-Point hitch must be stabilized to prevent side-to-
side movement. Most tractors have sway blocks or
adjustable chains for this purpose.

1.

Locate on a flat and level concrete surface.

2.

Slowly back tractor up to the Scarifier while using the
tractor’s 3-Point hydraulic control to align the lower
hitch arms ball swivels with the hitch lugs on the
Scarifier.

3.

Engage tractor park brake, shut tractor engine off
and remove key before dismounting from tractor.

4.

Attach lower arms to the hitch pins and secure with
linch pins. (Linch pins supplied by customer)

5.

Connect top center link to the upper hitch using
customer supplied clevis pin and linch pin. If
required, start tractor and slowly raise 3-Point hitch
about 1 - 2" to align center link with Scarifier center
hitch pin hole.

6.

Ensure that lower hitch arms are blocked to prevent
excessive side movement.

7.

Return to the tractor and slowly operate the controls
up and down to check for clearance between
Scarifier and tractor tires, frame and drawbar. Move
or remove the drawbar if it interferes with the
Scarifier.

8.

Manually adjust one of the two Lower lift arms up or
down to level the Scarifier from left to right.

9.

Manually adjust the length of the top center link to
level the Scarifier from front to rear.

Unhook Scarifier

!

WARNING!

Scarifiers, without a rake or rear blade attached, can tip over
while unhooking from a tractor. Secure Scarifier with bracing
before unhooking from the unit.

1.

Park on a level solid surface.

2.

Lower Scarifier until teeth are resting on level ground
or until its main beam is resting on solid supports.

3.

Engage tractor park brake, shut tractor engine off
and remove key before dismounting from tractor.

4.

Stabilize Scarifier with bracing before unhooking
tractor’s 3-Point arms. Make sure bracing is secure
and will not slip while unhooking.

5.

Unhook 3-Point hitch from tractor. Reinstall hitch
pins, linchpins, and hair pin cotters in Scarifier hitch
for safe keeping.

6.

Remove bracing and rotate Scarifier down so that it is
laying on the ground or use auxiliary supports such
as post planted in the ground to prevent the
possibility of the unit tipping over.
