CB0654 4-in-1 Combination Bucket 381-218M

1/3/23

Table of Contents

Refer to Figure 1-2:

1. Using the 90 degree fitting side of hoses, install

longer hose (#4) to bottom port of cylinder (#1) and

shorter hose (#5) to top port of cylinder.

2. Orient hoses for best hook-up and clearance to the

couplers on the bulkhead and tighten to cylinder.

3. Install couplers (#6 & #7) to hoses (#4 & #5) and

tighten.
a. After operation the couplers can be reversed to

allow controls to operate the opposite way.

l

Refer to Figure 1-1 on page 10

4. Clean all dirt from quick connect couplers shown in

Figure 1-1 and the couplers on the 3rd function

bulkhead.

5. Connect the quick connect couplers on the bucket to

the quick connect couplers on the bulkhead. Make

sure quick connect couplers have fully engaged. If

they have not, check the following:
a. Make sure couplers are same size and type.
b. Make sure hydraulic system pressure has been

released.

Check Equipment Clearances

Refer to Figure 1-2:

It is important to check clearance between tractor and

bucket before putting the bucket into service. Make sure

hoses are long enough and won’t become pinched or

entangled in the equipment. Also, make sure the bucket

does not come in contact with the tractor loader by

carefully going through its full range of motions.
1. Visually inspect hydraulic hoses for possible pinch

points and shortness. Make hose adjustments before

operating hydraulics to check clearances.

2. Start tractor and raise bucket approximately 12" off

the ground.

3. If necessary, have someone stand nearby that can

motion for the operator to stop if a problem develops

while completing steps 4-7 below.

4. Fully extend bucket hydraulic cylinder (#1) to pivot

jaw (#2) fully down.

5. Raise loader arms just enough for the bucket to clear

the ground while extending and retracting tilt cylinder

on the end of the loader.

IMPORTANT:

Make sure coupler fittings on the

hydraulic hoses and power machine are clean

before connecting them together.

NOTE:

If the loader is not supplied with Kubota’s 3rd

Function valve, an optional Land Pride kit is

available. See “

Accessories

for correct kit number.

6. Fully extend and retract tilt cylinder on the end of the

loader while watching for interferences between

loader, bucket, and hydraulic hoses. Stop movement

if hoses interfere with the loader or bucket.

7.

Fully retract bucket cylinder to pivot the jaw fully up

and repeat steps 5 & 6.

8. Raise loader arms fully up and repeat steps 4 & 6.
9. Lower bucket to the ground & close the jaw.

Hook-up Hoses/Purge Hydraulic System

Figure 1-2

Purge Hydraulic System

Refer to Figure 1-2:

1. With bucket raised off the ground about 12", cycle

hydraulic cylinder (#1) several times from fully

extended to fully retracted.

2. If the hydraulic cylinder operates unevenly after

cycling, then purge the system as follows:
a. Shut tractor down according to

“Tractor

Shutdown Procedure”

on page 9.

b. Loosen hydraulic hose fitting (#3) at the rod end of

cylinder (#1).

c. Return to the tractor seat and slowly retract

cylinder (#1) to purge any trapped air from the

system.

d. Shut tractor down properly before dismounting.
e. Once all trapped air is removed from the system,

tighten fitting (#3).

78350

IMPORTANT:

Purge hydraulic cylinders and/or

hoses of air before putting the equipment into

service. Not purging the system can cause uneven

cylinder movement and positioning.
