Chapter 9: Sending faxes with LANCAPI

EN
The installation of the LANCAPI client is described in the reference manual.
This chapter shows the installation of LANCOM CAPI Faxmodem and MS Win-
dows fax service.
While the CAPI Fax Modem driver simulates a "virtual" fax modem
connected to an analog line, the Fax Gateway Option enables direct
fax transmission via LANCAPI (supports "Fax Group 3" in the CAPI
profile and transmits with T.30). This is interesting for fax-server solu-
tions, as they can use a LANCOM VoIP router like a locally installed
ISDN fax adapter via the CAPI 2.0 interface. Depending on the router
model, 2, 4 or 8 faxes can be transmitted in parallel over ISDN. Fax
servers able to access the fax function directly through the combina-
tion of LANCAPI and the Fax Gateway Option benefit from a number
of possibilities, including a fax number for each individual employee.
The servers require no additional specialized hardware such as fax
adapters, which presents further advantages in case of server
changes, up-/down-scaling and virtualization. The Fax Gateway
Option is not suitable for operation with the Microsoft Windows fax
service.
