Start-up
Start & Stop system
The Start & Stop system helps to reduce fuel consumption and consequent CO2 emissions.
In Start & Stop mode, the engine turns off automatically when the vehicle is still, for example at a traffic light. The instrument cluster
remains on in this situation. The engine then restarts automatically as soon as it is needed.
Activating and deactivating the Start & Stop system
When the instrument cluster is turned on, the Start & Stop system is always
activated as well.
If you do not wish to use the system, it can be deactivated with the
button
on the centre console
The Start & Stop system operates only when:
•
The transmission is in AUTOMATIC STRADA mode with first gear or
neutral (N) engaged or in parking mode (P)
• The driver door is closed
• The driver has buckled their seat belt
• The engine bonnet is closed
• The vehicle has already exceeded 3 km/h for at least 10 seconds since the last stop
• The steering wheel is straight
The engine will not turn off when:
•
The engine has not yet reached the minimum temperature for Start
& Stop mode
• The internal temperature selected with the climate control has not
yet been reached
• The outside temperature is
very low/high
• Windscreen defrost is on
• The parking assistance system
is on
• The battery charge level is too
low
• The steering wheel is turned
• Reverse gear is engaged
• On steep slopes
The engine restarts without the driver's intervention when:
•
The interior temperature differs from that set with the
climate control
• Windscreen defrost is on
• The battery charge level drops too low
• The current required from the battery is high
The warning light indicates that the engine
has not been turned off
Switching off the engine
(with start & stop system active)
•
Stop the vehicle with the brake pedal
• Keep your foot on the brake pedal
• The engine will turn off automatically
• The warning light will turn on
Starting the engine
(with start & stop system active)
•
Take your foot off the brake pedal
• The engine will now start automatically
• The warning light will turn off
