Pneumatic System
When the tailgate or body switch on the control panel is activated, the corresponding solenoid valve
in the air control box (see Figure 7-2) sends air to the corresponding air actuator on the main valve.
This results in a movement of the hydraulic spool inside the valve.

The packer system is similar except that the electric signal goes through the electronic module,
located on the truck body, before reaching the air control box. For more details, see page 169.
To avoid affecting control of the packer or other air systems on the vehicle (especially under cold
weather conditions), you must maintain the air system regularly: drain the air tanks, the water trap,
and the air filter at the end of every working day. The air filter element must be replaced every
1000
hours.
To do so:
1.
Lock out and tag out the vehicle (see
Locking Out and Tagging Out the Vehicle
2.
Shut off air supply and depressurize the unit before servicing.
3.
Unscrew the retaining collar.
4.
Unscrew the bowl.

OTE
:
Avoid scratching internal surfaces.
5.
Replace the air filter element.
6.
Reverse the procedure to reinstall the other components (bowl and retaining collar).
7.
Apply system pressure.
8.
Check for air leaks.
9.
In case of air leaks,
do not
operate. Conduct servicing again.
