(1) Stop Recording Command
Assertion of the “Stop Recording” command stops the FA5000 CVR recording within
ten minutes. Removal of the “Stop Recording” command or “Push-To-Test” resumes
the recording. If the recording is resumed due to the “Push-To-Test” function being
activated, the recording will again cease within 10 minutes if the “Stop Recording”
signal is still active.
(2) Control Unit Operating Power and Monitor Audio Signals
The Control Unit or External Preamplifier is a component of a CVR installation and func-
tions as the FA5000CVR cockpit user interface. GACVR have a internal Pre

amplifier and
do not require a Control Unit or external Pre
−
amplifier to power a microphone. Control
Units contain a preamplifier printed wiring assembly (PWA) for interfacing the cockpit area
microphone with the FA5000CVR, and provide a means for activating the test function via
a green push button and an indicator. Bulk Erasure of the FA5000CVR storage media is
also accomplished by pressing the Control Unit’s red Bulk ERASE push button. All Con-
trol Units contain a headset jack for verifying system operation. Refer to Component

The Model S151/S161, Model S152/S162, and the Model S251/S261 Control Units are
for use in FA5000CVR ARINC
−
757 or 757A / ED–56A System installations. The Model
S151 and Model S251 Control Units house the Microphone Preamplifier PWA, and have
front panel TEST and Bulk ERASE switches. The Model S151/S251 Control Units are
used with an externally-mounted electret condenser-type microphone
The Model S161/S261 Controls Units are used with remote microphone modules with in-
ternal amplifiers for reducing RF interference. These control units also have front panel
TEST and Bulk ERASE switches, TEST indicator lamp and a HEADSET jack.
The Model S152/S162 contains a built-in electret condenser-type microphone, Micro-
phone Preamplifier PWA, TEST and Bulk ERASE switches, TEST indicator lamp and a
HEADSET jack.
The Model S150/S160 Preamplifier is available for FA5000CVR ED–56A System installa-
tions that do not require a Control Unit. However, because ARINC Characteristic 757 or
757A does not address microphone preamplifiers, the Model S150/S160 Preamplifier is
not considered ARINC

757 or 757A compliant. The S150 is designed to be used with the
S055 remote microphone. The S160 is used with the S056 remote microphone.
