7-4. TRI-TAC VOICE CALLS
7-4.1
TRI-TAC - Initiating Calls
When initiating a secure call and configured for the TRI-TAC network, the STE provides you with the
capability to select the signaling mode to be used. Refer to sections 5-3.2.3/4 for a description of TRI-
TAC signaling mode selection.
The procedures herein assume that both STEs are connected on the TRI-TAC network.
1. Upon going off hook, the STE will display one of the menus shown below (
), depending on the Initial Mode Setting (Auto-Secure, Traditional, Secure-Only). For each
mode, follow the instructions in the table immediately below each menu to place a call.

When the initiator of a call is strapped for Traditional, it is also possible to make secure calls between
TRI-TAC and PSTN STEs. The dialing procedure depends on the network configuration and on the
dialing process required by the associated network switch. See Paragraph
7-4.6
for details.
