1-4-2 Self-diagnosis
(1) Self-diagnostic function
This unit is equipped with a self-diagnostic function. When a problem is detected, copying is disabled and the problem dis-
played as a code consisting of C followed by a number, indicating the nature of the problem.
After removing the problem, the self-diagnostic function can be reset by reattaching the side feeder.

Check the connection of connector YC15 on

nals. Repair or replace if necessary.

Side feeder lift motor going up error
The paper lifter is situated between the
tray lower limit detection sensor and
paper level detection sensor 2; Paper
level detection sensor 2 does not turn off
within 38 s since the paper lifter has
started to ascend.
The paper lifter is situated between
paper level detection sensors 2 and 1;
Paper level detection sensor 1 does not
turn off within 30 s since the paper lifter
has started to ascend.
The paper lifter is situated between
paper level detection sensor 1 and the
tray upper limit detection sensor; The
tray upper limit sensor does not turn off
within 28 s since the paper lifter has
started to ascend.
During paper feeding, the tray upper limit
sensor does not turn off within 200 ms
since the paper lifter has started to
ascend.
A lock signal is detected.

terminals.
Reinsert the connector. Also check for conti-
nuity within the connector cable. If none,
repair or replace the cable.
Broken gears, belt
or wire of side
feeder lift drive
unit.
Replace gears, belt or wire of side feeder lift
drive unit.
Defective side
feeder lift motor.
Check for continuity across the coil. If none,
replace side feeder lift motor.
Poor contact of
paper level detec-
tion sensor 1, 2 or
tray upper limit
detection sensor
connector termi-
nals.
Reinsert the connector. Also check for conti-
nuity within the connector cable. If none,
repair or replace the cable.
Defective paper
level detection sen-
sor 1, 2 or tray
upper limit detec-
tion sensor.
Run maintenance item U233 and turn sen-
sor on and off manually. Replace sensor if
indication of the corresponding sensor on
the touch panel is not displayed in reverse.
Defective side
feeder main PWB.
Replace the side feeder main PWB.
