
KVH Link delivered by IP-MobileCast
offers
licensed entertainment to commercial vessels at
sea without using the vessels monthly data plan
or slowing down onboard connections to the
Internet. Content may include movies, TV shows,
daily print and video news, sports highlights,
music, karaoke, and podcasts, depending on the
vessels subscription. KVH Link also offers large
file delivery services for critical ship operations,
including chart updates, weather data, company
communications to crew, and crew training.
The ICM stores all KVH Link content and
streams it locally to connected shipboard devices.
So if the customer subscribes to the service,
theres no additional equipment to install unless
the crew wants to view content on a TV. In that
case, a KVH Link Set-top Box (KVH part no.
72-0876) needs to be connected between the
vessel network and the TV. Refer to the KVH

CommBox software extends the systems
network capabilities (see Figure 79). Two options
are available:
Standard Bundle
:
Provides least cost routing,
onboard firewall, web caching, web image
compression, ad removal, and URL and
content filtering
Enterprise Bundle
:
Adds automated file
transfers, differential synchronization, mail
relay server, web mail client, anti-spam and
anti-virus filters, roaming crew accounts, and
prepaid Internet and email services;
integration with a CommBox hub is required
KVH will coordinate directly with the customer
to select, install, and configure the appropriate
bundle to meet their needs.
