Using Templates
The DL-2 is designed to use templates provided by Windows manufacturers.
Templates are typically 1/2” plywood cut the same size as the door. The templates are also typi-
cally made for 1-1/2” nose follower and a 1/2” bit.
If you are making your own templates, cut holes 1/2” outside all the way around the cut. Once
completed the process is ready to begin.
The template is held in place with two 5/8" diameter pins on the fixed side and two air actuated
clamps on the movable fence side.
It is possible to use the same template on two different width doors. If you have a template for a
32" door, It can be relocated in a second set of locater holes on the machine, indexing 2" nearer
the outside of the door. The template will then be centered over a 36" door.
Set Templates so the top of the template is even with the door stop, and the edge of the template
should be flush with the fixed side fence. (If you want to use the jig for more than one width door
you can relocate the jig to a second set of holes.) A steel jig is provided for locating the proper
spot to drill your 19/64" diameter holes or the locater pins. Once the holes are drilled, you can
then insert a "tee nut" on the top side and a 5/8" locater pin on the bottom side which would be
held in place with a flat head bolt. See Illustration below for a typical template
