Cutting out the opening in the working surface

– Insert ventilation slits in the back wall

of the cupboard, at least 150 cm

2

(see dimension drawing).

The opening is cut out in two steps.

1. The opening for the floor pan is cut out.

2. Milling in order to put the glass ceramic surface in place.

(For this procedure, a routing cutter with a guide is a minimum
requirement.)

If the working surface is made of stone, it is not necessary to carry out the
second step; instead the bearinf surface for the glass ceramic hob can be
completely cut out and then sealed in again at the appropriate level.

The outer dimensions of the cutout should always exceed those of the glass
ceramic hob by approx. 6 mm, so that the hob can be sealed in place (see:
„sealing in the hob“).

In the case of a stone working surface, the glass ceramic hob can be lowered
in until the surfaces are completely flush. The cutout must therefore be
approximately 6.5 mm deep.

In the case of working tops made of wood or of plastic, the cutout must be
5.5 mm deep. The resulting projection of the glass ceramic hob over the
working surface of at least 1 mm protects the plastic surface of the working
top should a hot pan accidentally be placed there.

Attention!

The thickness of the glass ceramic hob with the metal wedges installed is
5.5 mm to 6.5 mm. In order to ensure a flush surface in the case of stone
working surfacers, the cutout may need to be adjusted.

Sealing in the hob

Instructions

■

In order to avoid any damage to the working top or to the hob, it is
necessary to ensure that the working surface/hob system is sealed in such
a manner that it is permanently watertight.

■

The parts to be sealed must be dry and free of any grease.

■

In order to seal in the cooking surfaces you will  require the

blocking

primer 101

 and the heat-resistant and damp-proof

silicon adhesive

Pactan 7056

 produced by

Heidelberger Baustofftechnik

 and also

available through the Küppersbusch spare parts service.

Please pay close attention to the instructions for use provided for both
materials!

Here you will also find the formula for calculating the hardening time of the
silicon adhesive.

The hob may not be operated before this hardening

period has lapsed, since the silicon adhesive could be damaged.

■

Apply adhesive to the outer edges of the hob only!

■

In the case of stone working tops, surfaces are to be flush on fitting, while
in the case of heat-sensitive working tops (such as wood or plastic), the
cooking surface must overlap by approx. 1 mm.

■

Never place the hob in such a manner that the glass ceramic surface lies
unprotected on the working top or on the floor. Dirt (such as metal shavings,
stone chippings or any similar materials) may result in schratches on the
glass ceramic surface. Always place a piece of cardboard or a blanket under
the glass ceramic surface.

Procedure

1. Prior to applying adhesive, insert the hob into the cutout in the working top

and check the height. If necessary, insert the supporting platelets provided
at regular intervals on the supporting edge for the hob surface in order to
adjust the height.

2. Remove the hob.

3. Use the blocking primer to pre-treat the support surface of the hob and all

of the surfaces of cuts in the working top up to approx. 1 mm over the
cutting edge.
Apply the primer thickly with a brush to extremely absorbent surfaces (for
example chipboard).
In the case of surfaces with a low degree of absorbency (for example
support surfaces of the hob made of marble or granite), applying the primer
thinly with felt is sufficient.
