Installation instructions for fitter
The circuit element may only be installed and connected up to the
mains by an qualified electrician!
Please note the graphics on page 31.
Pre-installation instructions
For control unit installation in wall unit, see
Fig. 1
.
For control unit installation in low-level unit under worktop, see
Fig. 2
.
Cover for control unit and built-in hob.
Electrical connection
Warning: This appliance must be earthed!
Electrical connection of the control unit must be performed by a trained
electrician. The legally recognized regulations (VDE in Germany, ÖVE in
Austria, SEV in Switzerland, etc.) and the connection requirements of the
Electricity Board supplying your area must be fully complied with.
When the appliance is being connected, a device allowing the applian-
ce to be isolated from the mains supply with a contact opening width
of at least 3 mm must be provided. Suitable isolating devices are line
protection switches, fuses, and contactors.
The connection diagram is shown in the circuit diagram on the panel of the
built-in control unit.
The appliance is arranged for a 400 V 3 N ~ 50 Hz fixed connection
(240 V AC in UK). It operates at 230-240 V AC (240 V AC in UK).
Junction box
The junction box is connected in the connection area as shown in
Figs. 5
and
6
.
General
The connection diagram is shown in the circuit diagram on the panel of the
built-in control unit.
The length of the connection lead should be sized so that, before installati-
on, the control unit can be placed on the worktop.
Cable grade: H 05 V V- F or better.
For arrangement of the plug socket, see the section giving "Pre-installation
instructions".
The properly installed appliance should be protected by a panel (partition)
from below so that any access to the connection leads between the control
unit and hob is not possible (
Figs. 3 and 4
). It should not be possible to re-
move the panel without tools.
The installation instructions for the built-in hob or built-in ceramic cooking
area should be followed.
The installation instructions are supplied with the corresponding appliances.
How to connect the circuit element
1. Pull the cover off towards you and remove the lid of the circuit element.
2. Lead the connection cable through the mains lead and through the rear
cover.
3. Fasten the individual wires according to their respective wiring onto the
connector block. The earthed conductor must be long enough so that it
is deconnected last in row by mechanical strain if mains lead cleat fails.
4. Tighten the screws of the mains lead cleat.
5. Place the lid of the circuit element back on and screw on again.
Installing the circuit element
1. Prepare the cutting out of the cupboard according to the installation
measurements on
diagram 1
and
2
2. Remove the cover of the circuit element by pulling it towards you, see-
diagram 9
. (Cover is only clipped on).
3. Press the electric hob unit connection right down onto the contact strip
of the circuit element see
diagram 12
.
Caution!
The hob unit connection can only be inserted onto the contact strip
when held in the correct position.
4. Push the circuit element through the cover opening and make sure to
hold the circuit element at an angle see
diagram 10
.
The circuit element is to be pushed into the cupboard in such a way
that the part of the cupboard to the left and right of the cover opening
can be clipped sideways onto the holding device of the circuit element.
Make sure not to jam the connection cables when inserting the circuit
element.
5. Screw the circuit element on sideways and put the cover back on again,
see
Fig. 11
.
The fastening screws are enclosed with the circuit element.
Consealed wiring - fig. 7
The cable tree can be put in directly under the plaster or the wall tiles/ pa-
nels of the shell.
Surface wiring - fig. 8
If the cable tree is installed behind a wooden or plastic lagging the buried
pipe must be cut open lengthwise and taken off. - The required minimum
distance between the lagging and the wall of the building must be at least
15 mm.
If the circuit element is to be installed into top cupboards an additional
cable tree will be required.,
fig. 13
, Accessory No. 466.
Important note:
It is extremely important to make sure that when installing the cable tree
the plug connections are in the correct position!

.
When in doubt test correct allocation before final installation.
Servicing
During repairs, the appliance must be deenergized, i. e. the isolating device
on the fixedwiring side must be preliminarily opened (e. g. by taking out the
fuse).
Rating plate
The rating plate is located on the control unit panel.
Please be sure to enter the F-No. and model designation in the Operating in-
structions.
Please state the data indicated when calling the service centre or ordering
spare parts.
