PTO drive shaft
Protective parts
All protective parts of the PTO drive shaft have to be in a proper and
undamaged condition. Replace defective parts. An unprotected PTO
drive shaft or damaged protective parts can cause serious injuries.
Read and observe the manufacturer’s operation manual of the PTO
drive shaft. Especially obey the safety and maintenance instructions.
Check the PTO drive shaft and protection covers for wear and
damages:
•
After the first 10 operating hours.
•
Every 10 operating hours.
•
At the start of each season.
•
After cleaning with a high pressure cleaner.
Disconnect the PTO drive shaft from the machine and the tractor.
Use a grease gun to press grease into the lubrication points (2).
Lubricate the PTO drive shaft:
•
After the first 10 operating hours.
•
Every 10 operating hours.
•
At the start of each season.
•
After cleaning with a high pressure cleaner.
Before connecting the PTO drive shaft to the machine and the tractor
always:
•
Check the tubes of the PTO drive shaft for sliding correctly
•
Grease the joints (1) of the PTO drive shaft.
Slip clutch
The slip clutch is mounted at the machine-side of the PTO drive shaft.
Check the slip clutch for correct functioning:
•
At the start of each season.
Disconnect the PTO drive shaft from the machine and the tractor.
Check the slip clutch:
•
Tighten the six nuts (1) until the slip clutch will rotate freely from the
PTO drive shaft. In case the slip clutch will not rotate freely, replace
the slip clutch.
•
Loosen the six nuts to the end of the thread, the nuts may not come
off.
