2. Turn the valve spring to measure the maximum tilt
(1).
NOTE
• If the measurement is more than the service
limit, replace it.

3. Check the full surface of the valve spring for
scratches.
NOTE
• If there is a damage, replace it.
7.12 Checking set load of valve
spring
Tools required
• Valve spring tester
1. Put the valve spring on a tester and compress the
valve spring to the specified setting length.
2. Read the compression load on the gauge.
NOTE
• If the measurement is less than the service
specification, replace the valve spring.

micrometer.
