9 PREPARING FOR USE

Get used to handling the motorcycle in a suitable area before making a longer trip. Try also to ride as slowly
as possible to get a better feel for the motorcycle.

Hold the handlebar firmly with both hands and keep your feet on the footrests when riding.

Run the engine in. ( p. 138)
9.2 Running in the engine

During the running-in phase, do not exceed the specified engine speed.
Guideline
Maximum engine speed
During the first: 1,000 km (620 mi) 6,500 rpm
After the first: 1,000 km (620 mi) 9,800 rpm
–
Avoid fully opening the throttle!

If the maximum engine speed is exceeded before the first service, the shift warning light flashes.
