15.0 Ash screw (if mounted).
By biomass fuels forming a lot of ashes in connection with their combustion, it is a great advantage to fit
the burner with an automatic ash screw, perhaps in combination with the scraper bottom.
The ash screw is mounted as shown below.
Ash-bin
Ash
Mode of operation.
The screw conveys the ashes that drop into it, out through the boiler side. From here, the screw tube runs
into the side of a 60 litre ash bin which is filled from the bottom like a molehill.
Adjustment possibilities (see section 6.10)
The ash screw runs parallel to the stoker screw, use parameter ASH SCREW to set its capacity as a
percentage of the stoker screw capacity.
As a starting point, set it at 3-10%, later on adjust the setting to the ash volume.
Maintenance.
Clinker crust:
By heavy formation of clinker, it may be necessary to remove the biggest
lumps now and then, but this rarely occurs.
Ash bin:
Be careful to manually empty the ash bin before it runs quite full as that would
charge the screw and the engine more than necessary.
