Get the ladder system checked and released by a responsible expert
after its installation.
An identification must be attached at each access point.
This can be done with an adjoining identification plate. If the ladder
is designed as per DIN 18799, then the category of persons for whom the
ladder system has been designed must also be specified on it. Thus the
user (untrained „A“ or trained „B“) can identify prior to climbing the ladder,
as to whether he should use it.
3.6.2 During normal operation
The ladder is released by the tester
– The operators must regularly, at least once a year, instruct the users
with respect to the correct use of the product.
– The product should only be used in safe and functional condition.
– The product should only be used when all the safety devices are
available and are functional.
– It must be ensured that the product is not used by unauthorized persons.
– Every user must check the product via visual check for proper condition,
especially with respect to safety equipment, prior to each use.
3.6.4 For testing and maintenance
– The specified intervals of the tests and servicing work must be
complied with.
– Test and maintenance work should only be executed by personnel, who are trained
for the same and authorized by the operator.
– Tests and maintenance work must be executed only when the product is secured and
access by unauthorized persons is excluded. Appropriate warning signs must be
attached to the product and accesses.
– Ensure that all the necessary tools and aids are in technically intact and safe-to-operate
condition.
3.6.3 In case of damages
– Do not use the product if safety equipment or product parts are
damaged or there are indications of damage.
– Block use and access to the product immediately in case of functional
faults or damages to the product parts.
– Damaged product parts should be sorted out and replaced by original
spare parts. Damages on the product and functional faults must be
rectified promptly.
