4 / 5

Solder the 3 connections (+5V and 2x MIDI) to the MIDI interface board.

Connections to MIDI interface board

MIDI (pin 4)

MIDI (pin 5)

+5V

Plug the ribbon cable you soldered to the KLM-448A board into the MIDI interface board.

Ensure that pin 1 (marked with a triangle on the plug body) is lined up with the pin 1 marking

on the board. You will need to fold a 90º turn into the ribbon cable, as shown in the following

image:

12.

Ensure that the MIDI interface is seated at the bottom of the battery compartment. The rigidity

of the ribbon cable should be adequate to hold it in place, especially when the case is closed.

Reconnect the 2 ribbon cables and 3 cable connectors joining the two halves of the case. Re-

place the top case, making sure that no wires are getting pinched or trapped, and replace the

case screws.

Test the KPR-77 and MIDI functionality. Three snare drums will sound in quick succession

shortly after power-on to confirm that the MIDI interface microcontroller has started.
