Convenient Use of Scan Function (Scan to SMB)

Check the user name.

In Windows Vista/7/Server 2003/Server 2003 R2/Server 2008/Server 2008 R2, select [All Programs] -
[Accessories] and open [Command Prompt]. Then, type in "set user" and press the [Enter] key.

In Windows 8/8.1/Server 2012/Server 2012 R2, right-click the Start window, click [All apps], and
open [Command Prompt]. Then, type in "set user", and press the [Enter] key. Then, type in "set user",
and press the [Enter] key.

The domain name and user name are displayed. The login user name is shown following
"USERNAME=".

The user name is required to specify a destination. Write down the user name so that you do not
forget it.

Enable file sharing.

In Windows 7/8/8.1/Server 2008 R2/Server 2012/Server 2012 R2, select [Control Panel] - [Network
and Internet] - [Network and Sharing Center] - [Advanced sharing settings], then click [Turn on file
and printer sharing] in the [Change advanced sharing settings] window.

In Windows Vista, select [Control Panel] - [Network and Internet] - [Network and Sharing Center],
then click [Sharing and Discovery] - [File Sharing] - [Turn on file sharing].

In Windows Server 2008, click [Control Panel] - [Network and Internet] - [Set up file sharing], select
[Sharing and Discovery] - [File Sharing] in the [Network and Sharing Center] window, then click [Turn
on file sharing].

In Windows Server 2003/Server 2003 R2, open [Tools] - [Folder Options] in the folder, then clear the
[Use simple file sharing (Recommended)] check box on the [View] tab.

Set to a shared folder.
Right-click the folder to be shared, open [Properties], then click [Advanced Sharing] in the [Sharing] tab.
On the opened window, select the [Share this folder] check box.

Set [Permissions].
Click [Permissions] on the [Advanced Sharing]
window, select [Group or user names] -
[Everyone], then set [Change] of Permissions to
Allow.
