Control for motor holding brake
A 24 V / max. 3 A holding brake in the motor can be controlled directly by the servo amplifier.
Check voltage drop, measure the voltage at brake input and check brake function
(brake and no brake). This function does not ensure personnel safety! Hanging
load (vertical axes) require an additional mechanical brake which must be safely
operated.
The brake function must be enabled through the BRAKE parameter (setting: WITH BRAKE). In the
diagram below you can see the time and functional relationships between the ENABLE signal,
speed setpoint, speed and braking force.
During the internal ENABLE delay time of 100 ms (DECDIS) the speed setpoint of the servo ampli-
fier is internally driven down a 10 ms ramp to 0. The brake output is switched on when a speed of
5rpm is reached or after 5s (EMRGTO) the latest.
The rise (tbrH) and fall (tbrL) times of the holding brake which is built into the motors are different
for the various types of motor (see motor manual).
