I-8 Troubleshooting
Print Quality
Many of the print quality concerns can be resolved by priming, cleaning,
and calibrating the cartridges. When this is the case, “Prime, clean,
calibrate, or replace” is indicated with other solutions. Refer to the
following chapters for details:
Prime - see Chapter 2
Clean - see Chapter 4
Calibrate - see Appendix A.
Replace - see Chapter 4.
No print appears
Check that tape has been removed from the printhead before using the
cartridge.
White lines or large gaps on print or portions of characters
missing
Prime, clean, calibrate, or replace cartridges.
Check if the ink reservoir is empty. Refill if necessary.
Make sure the media feeds freely.
Overall print quality is poor
Prime, clean, calibrate, or replace cartridges.
Make sure the printer is positioned on level ground.
Cartridge spits small amounts of ink on paper
Nozzle plate may be flooded. Try using a lower firing rate or replacing the
cartridge.
Streak marks
Clean the service station at least once a week, or more often, depend-
ing on the number of prints you are running. (See Chapter 4.)
