1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The 1 beam photocell amplifier
AFT15
together with the special probes ensures maximum safety in automated access, e.g.
lifts, robber-proof revolving doors, automatic doors, industrial counterweighted doors etc… It can be used positioning the probes
directly on the opening or inside one or more safety ribs.
2. MAIN FEATURES
High immunity to disturbance
Management of 1 beam
1 relay output in N.O. / N.C. exchange corresponding to interruption of one of the two
beams with an intervention time of 20msec
Easy installation and alignment of the probes, thanks to the “Intensity Attenuation” of
infrared rays function by means of a trimmer.
Conformity with reference European Directives:
Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)
89/336/CEE

The AFT15 device must be installed inside another casing that features an IP rating of at least X4. The inside of the casing must be accessible by means
of appropriate tools.
The photocell is an auxiliary device for the detection of persons and/or objects and must therefore be used in conjunction with a security device.
The photocell must be subjected to periodical checks at least once every 6 months.
4. CONNECTION AND START-UP
Before installing the
AFT15
photocell amplifier read the “General safety warnings ”.
Fix the box by means of the special fixing holes.
Align the probes
Pass the connection cables through the special slots
Connect the power supply and signal cables.
N.B.:
For connection of the transmitter probes you must connect the central cable (red wire) to the common terminal TX and the
braided wire to terminal 1. For connection of the receiver probes you must connect the braided wire to the common terminal RX
and the central cable (white wire) to terminal 1.
Power up and check that the Red LED, which shows the status of the beam, is off. If this is not the case, align the probes. A
further verification that probes are aligned is signalled by green LED that shows he output state (LED switched on = output
not active, LED switched off = output active)
WARNING
The amplifier is set up to the minimum beam capacity: turn the TR1 potentiometer for adjusting beam attenuation :
cursor completely to the right = minimum capacity / cursor completely to the left = maximum capacity. The table
below shows the maximum capacity of a probe in function of TR1 Trimmer cursor position.
REFER TO CHART P.6.
To verify the efficiency of the probe alignment, turn the Trimmer clockwise (reduction of probe range) until the red LED
comes on (beam unaligned), then turn the Trimmer a quarter turn anticlockwise to ensure an adequate safety margin for
variations in environmental conditions.
