Knife change of the mower
Warning
Risk of injury / risk of environmental damage due to damaged and / or
sharp mower knives!
Damaged and / or sharp mower knives risk injury, as well as danger for
environmental and property damage (on the machine)!
•
Before changing knives, appropriate personal protective clothing must be
worn in the form of safety shoes, cut-resistant gloves and goggles.
•
When lifting / bucking the mower, care must be taken to ensure that the
lifting equipment and load-carrying equipment are sufficiently dimensioned.
The mower worm must be adequately secured against tipping and /or
falling/sliding.
•
Never step under suspended loads.
•
Knives may only be exchanged in pairs. In any case, the knife with different
weights must be avoided. The operation of unequal knife combinations can
lead to vibrations, damage and injuries.
•
Knives must be checked for damage and cracks before rework.
•
Knives with cracks and damage must not be re-inserted and must be
replaced with new knives.
•
Knives may only be re-ground by appropriate specialist companies.
•
Also change screws and locking nuts when changing knives.
•
When assembling the new knife, care must be taken to ensure that the
knife can be swivelled around the spacer sleeve by hand after installation.
Rigidly installed knives can be damaged and / or destroyed very quickly in
contact with foreign objects. Parts of the knife may be thrown out of the
mower and injure bystanders!
There are basically two different methods of exchanging knives. It can either be the
entire plate with all the knives on it or the opposite knives can be dipped.
