maintenance manual. Please read them carefully to decrease the risk of injury. Such risk can never
be entirely eliminated. The manufacturer is not responsible for eventual children’s injuries resulting
from the ride on the pedal-free bike and its use.
It is recommended for all users of the pedal-free bike to wear their own respective protective
equipment for the sake of their safety. Even the most sophisticated protective equipment cannot
prevent injury in some situations. Observing the following rules may decrease this risk to an
acceptable level.
•
Before each ride, check whether all screw joints are tightened. If necessary tighten them.
•
Those beginners as well as advanced riders, who did not use the bike for a longer time, should
rehearse at the suitable places.
•
Road rules and regulations must be observed.
•
When riding you must still keep watch and be careful.
•
Avoid riding on wet or otherwise slipping surfaces.
•
Be careful when riding on sloping areas, the ride can be dangerous. Bear in mind that the pedal-
free is not equipped with a brake. Do not use it for a downhill ride.
ADJUSTING THE POSITION OF SADDLE AND HANDLEBARS
All functional parts of the pedal-free bike are preadjusted by the manufacturer and checked by your
seller. Therefore, you may use the pedal-free bike immediately after the purchase. Prior to use of
the pedal-free bike, adjust only the position of saddle and handlebars. Adjust the saddle so that it
provides maximum comfort while maintaining safe control and stability.
If you do not have appropriate nut wrenches or you need assistance with the assembly, we
recommend to contact the nearest certificated seller of KELLYS bikes.
SADDLE ADJUSTMENT
The saddle should be positioned to such height in which a child is able to stand on the ground with
a whole sole of its feet with moderately bent knees. Handlebars should be so adjusted that upper
limbs are approximately in horizontal position when gripping the handlebars. Check whether this
position is comfortable for the child.
Regularly adjust the pedal-free bike according to the actual height of the child.
Should the saddle be adjusted too high, leg and back muscles are excessively loaded.
A low adjusted saddle results in excessive load of knees and femoral muscles.
Loosen the nut, adjust the saddle height and tighten the nut. Check the nut tightening.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
There is a mark on the seat post indicating the minimum insertion of the seat post into the frame.
This mark of the minimum insertion of the seat post into the frame shall not be visible.
Never tighten the seat post above this mark! The nut mechanism of the seat post shall be so
tightened that it prevents the seat post from rotating in the frame.
RECOMMENDED TIGHTENING TORQUE VALUES
Screws and nuts should be tightened by using a torque wrench. This procedure prevents excessive
tightening and damage to the coils.
M6 inbus screw for the seat post lock 20 - 35 Nm*
M6 inbus screw for the stem lock 20 - 25 Nm*
M15 hexagonal screw - tightening of front wheel in the wheel fork 20 - 25 Nm*
M15 hexagonal screw - tightening of rear wheel in the rear wheel fork 25 - 30 Nm*
* Unless otherwise specified, adhere to the recommended values.
MAINTENANCE AND CARE
By its use, the pedal-free bike is adequately getting worn out. Therefore, regular maintenance and
care are required. Various materials and parts can respond to the wear and stress in different ways.
If the service life of some part is exceeded, this part can suddenly break down and cause injury to
the rider. Occurrence of any cracks, grooves or colour changes of highly stressed parts indicates the
end of service life of that part. Such part shall be replaced.
A parent or adult who watches the child, is responsible for a regular check of all parts and screws
tightening. If you cannot handle the maintenance by yourself, contact a specialized bicycle repair
shop. For the exchange of individual parts please contact your seller. After the possible crash, check
the pedal-free bike for any damage.
Do not use the pedal-free bike in the case when the frame is cracked or visually deformed. Any
