BASIC SETTINGS 

Within the “Cuff Control” menu in [Basic Settings] mode, there are three 
options available for configuring your BPSim

™

 units: 

Heart Rate 

This sets the pulses per minute of the needle and Korotkoff sounds 
emitted by the cuff just above and below the range between the 
Systolic and Diastolic blood pressure values. 

Systolic Pressure 

Represents the upper pressure threshold at which blood flow within the 
artery can first be heard. The 1

st

 phase of Korotkoff sounds should begin 

right when the pressure gauge falls below this level. 

Diastolic Pressure 

Represents the lower pressure threshold at which blood flow within the 
artery can last be heard. The 4

th

 phase of Korotkoff sounds should be 

audible immediately above this pressure level, and should completely 
disappear (the 5

th

 Korotkoff phase) when the pressure gauge falls below 

this level.
