Port Configuration
3.1
Overview
This section describes the port-related configuration and configuration of port-based
functions of the ESML6-P3 series. The user can configure auto-negotiation, port enable,
duplex, flow control, mirroring, port rate, ACL, etc.
Auto negotiation:
The ESML6-P3 supports the auto-negotiation function for ports; ports with the auto-
negotiation function automatically negotiate the communication mode (duplex state,
communication speed, etc) according to the port at the other end of the connection. This
function only works for the 10/100M copper ports and the 1000M fiber or copper ports;
100Base-FX ports do not support auto negotiation and their fixed rate is 100M with full
duplex.
Flow control:
The ESML6-P3 supports 802.3-based port flow control. In full duplex mode, if the port
receives data beyond its limit, the port will transmit flow control frames to prevent
packet loss caused by the rate limit. In half duplex mode, if the port receives data
beyond its limit, the port generates back pressure half duplex collision detection frames
to reduce the transmitting data from the sending end.
Mirroring
The ESML6-P3 supports port-based mirroring. Its function is to copy the data on the
mirroring port to the mirrored port(s) to allow real-time monitoring of communications.
Access Control Lists (ACL):
The ACL provide the switch with the ability to filter ingress and egress traffic based on
conditions specified in the ACL. The ESML6-P3 supports Port plus MAC-based ACL
functions with two modes ‘accept’ and ‘reject’ this guarantees the port security. In
‘accept’ mode, only the configured MAC address can pass through switch. In ‘reject’
mode, the configured MAC address is not allowed to pass through the switch.
