Malfunction
Cause
Remedy
The device cannot be
turned on
No power.
▶ Insert the battery proper‐
ly.
Insert a new battery.
Battery icon on
Battery weak.
▶ Insert a new battery as
soon as "BATT" is dis‐
played.
Display:
BATT
Battery is dead.
▶ Insert a new battery.
Device switches to error
and/or incorrect display.
Laser beam interrupted.
▶ Check the seating of the
probe.
▶ Clean the laser exit
opening.
Broken or scratched probe.
▶ Replace the probe.
The given order/sequence
was not followed during
the adjustment.
▶ Repeat the adjustment.
Display shows: ERR1
Checksum of program
memory is incorrect.
▶ Turn on the instrument
again. If this error re‐
peats, send the unit to
KaVo for repair.
Display shows: ERR 4
Laser power consumption
too high.
▶ Do not turn the instru‐
ment on again. Send the
instrument to KaVo for
repair.
Double audio signal after
start sound
No acknowledgement sig‐
nal from LCD display.
▶ Send the instrument to
KaVo for repair.
Product gets stuck in
turned-on state.
Ring switch contacts are
dirty or wet.
▶ Pull off and dry the grip‐
ping sleeve and clean
and dry the ring switch
contacts.
