Instructions for use DEXIS CariVu 3-in-1 by KaVo

6 Operation | 6.4 Recording images

30 / 50

6.4.2 Fluorescence mode

 CAUTION

Possibly hazardous optical radiation emitted from product.

Risk of injury.
Do not stare into the active light source.

 CAUTION

The camera can reach a temperature of up to 48 °C in fluorescence
mode.

Risk of injury.

Avoid too long operating times.

 CAUTION

UV emitted from this product.

In Fluorescence mode, it is recommended to plug the fluorescence cover onto
the camera to be able to record optimally illuminated images.

In this mode, the DEXIS CariVu 3-in-1 by KaVo camera records images in the
fluorescence range for the detection of occlusal caries.
For homogeneous illumination, LEDs are provided at the lens system, which are
blue in this mode.

This light excites the dental hard substance and the metabolic products of cario-
genic bacteria. These substances emit different colours (fluorescence), which al-
lows the user to detect carious activity. This mode can be used to record im-
ages and videos in the fluorescence range for the diagnosis of occlusal caries
and plaque. Like in Intraoral mode, the permanent autofocus assures the cap-
ture of permanently focused images.

Note

It is recommended to switch the light of the treatment unit off in this mode.
