Waste Disposal
●
Rechargeable batteries and batteries are special waste and not domestic waste. Used
rechargeable batteries can be returned to the free community collection points or a
point of sale. In Germany, the duty of the customer to return used batteries according
to the German Batteries Act (BattG) applies. To meet the obligations to take back
used batteries under the German Batteries Act (BattG), Kathrein is involved in the
common collection scheme of the “Gemeinsames Rücknahmesystem Batterien“
Foundation.
●
Dispose of the rechargeable battery properly:
–
Take only discharged rechargeable batteries to the recycling centre.
–
Secure rechargeable batteries that are not fully discharged against short circuits,
e.g. by applying adhesive tape to the poles.
–
Inform the recycling centre if the rechargeable battery is damaged.
–
Do not dispose of rechargeable batteries in fire, in a hot oven or by mechanically
crushing them, because this can lead to an explosion.
