Reception range/footprint
The footprint is the reception area on the earth that a satellite covers with its transmission beam (spot),
within which satellite reception is possible The transmission power is at its greatest in the centre of this
spot – it becomes progressively weaker moving outwards
The satellites broadcast the various channel packages in different spots Normally all channel packages
can be received within the spots Whilst reception is possible in principle at the edge zones, the quality
depends on various factors such as the diameter of the satellite antenna and the weather conditions
Fig A shows the spots of the most commonly used satellites for the antenna of the CAP 620
