Carbon Monoxide Hazards
•
The exhaust gas contains poisonous carbon monoxide
– a colorless and odorless gas.
Inhaling exhaust fumes can cause unconsciousness and can lead to death.
•
If you use your generator in an area that is closed or even partially enclosed, the air you
breathe may contain a hazardous amount of exhaust gas. To prevent the accumulation of
exhaust fumes, ensure that the generator work area is adequately ventilated.
Electric Shock Hazards
•
The generator produces enough electricity to cause a serious electric shock if not used
properly.
•
Using the generator in wet conditions such as rain or snow, near a swimming pool or sprinkler
system, or with wet hands may result in electric shock. Keep the generator dry.
•
If the generator is stored outdoors, unprotected from the weather, check all electrical
components on the control panel before each use. Moisture or ice can cause a malfunction
or short circuit in electrical components, which can cause electric shock.
•
Do not connect the generator to the building's electrical system, unless an isolating switch
has been installed by a qualified electrician.
Fire and Burn Hazards
•
The exhaust system becomes hot enough to ignite some materials.
•
During operation, the generator should be at a distance of at least 1 meter from buildings
and other equipment.
•
Do not enclose the generator in any structure.
•
Keep flammable materials away from the generator.
•
The muffler becomes very hot during operation and remains hot for a while after stopping the
engine. Be careful not to touch the muffler while it is hot. Allow the engine to cool before
storing the generator indoors.
•
Gasoline is highly flammable and will explode under certain conditions. Do not smoke or
refuel the generator or store fuel near flames or sparks. Refuel in a well-ventilated area with
the engine turned off.
•
Fuel vapors are highly flammable and may ignite when the engine is started. Make sure any
spilled fuel is wiped up before starting the generator.
