Maintenance and Troubleshooting SR-100i User’s Manual
primary and secondary windings. Replace TR5
if either winding is open.
8. Remove the wire from the high frequency
capacitor C8 and check the capacitor for a
short circuit. Replace if necessary.
9. Check the primary and secondary windings of
the high frequency coupling transformer TR7.
Replace TR7 if either winding is open.
Torch will not ignite
1. Replace torch consumables.
2. Check all LED’s for proper operation.
3. Check all primary disconnect fuses.
4. Check for a spark at the spark gap oscillator.
5. Verify that the main contactor CON2 is pulling
in.
6. Verify that the pilot arc relay PAR is pulling
in.
7. Check the continuity of the torch leads and
verify that all torch lead fittings are secure.
Replace the torch leads if there are any visible
signs of damage.
8. Verify that the Torch Electrode lead and Torch
Nozzle lead are not shorted together. Check
the torch and the torch leads separately.
9. Check the torch for any visible signs of
damage. Replace if necessary.
10. Check the surge injection capacitors (C3 and
C4 on the I/O p.c. board) and the surge
injection resistor R2, which is mounted just
above the I/O p.c. board. Replace if necessary.
11. Proceed to chopper test.
Poor cut quality
1. Consumables worn. Replace as necessary.
2. Gas pressure not adjusted to 85 psi.
3. Incorrect cutting conditions (current, speed,
torch height, etc.). See Section 4 for cutting
conditions.
4. Wrong mode of operation. See Section 4 for
operating modes.
5. Wrong consumables in torch. Verify that the
correct electrode, nozzle and shield cap are
being used. See Section 4 for cutting
conditions.
6. Arc not transferring to workpiece. Check all
connections on the work ground lead. Verify
that the connections are tight and free from
corrosion. If necessary, use a wire brush to
clean the connections.
7. Workpiece not grounded to the cutting table.
Replace the table slats if necessary.
8. Gas supply contaminated. Install/replace
filters as necessary.
