(1) Click the "Test Option" button to change the test
method to "Standard SSequential Read
Verify" test, then press the "Apply" button.
(2) Return to 6.2(1), and "Drive Login" again to perform
the test. Leave the test method (7) unchanged as
the method has already been changed in (1).
NOTE:
Testing time varies according to Microdrives. It
takes about 15 to 16 minutes to carry out the "Se-
Sequential Read Verify" test.
<Test results are NG>
(1) Physically format the Microdrive. (Low-level format)
NOTE:
Physical format (Low-level format) is different
from the ordinary format (Logical format) which is
usually carried out with PCs. Physical format
takes considerable time as it rearranges the hard
disk sectors.
The arrangement of the sectors sometimes may
break up for some reasons (vibrations or heat
etc.) In those cases, the test results are NG as the
data read/ write are impossible even though the
hard disk itself is normal.
It is necessary to physically format the Microdrive
once to confirm the Microdrive defect.
The easiest way to perform physical format
seems to be DDD CleanDisk.
As mentioned earlier, although the development
of DDD had been finished, it can be used for the
purpose of physical format.
Commercially available tools that can completely
clear disks may also be used.
(2) Format the Microdrive with EVERIO.
NOTE:
Formatting (Logically formatting) the Microdrive
with EVERIO optimize the Microdrive format (sec-
tor size). If a hard disk is not logically formatted af-
ter being physically formatted, it can not either
record or playback.
(3) Return to 6.2(1), and "Drive Login" again to perform
the test. Select the "Standard Sequence" test.
NOTE:
If the results of the retest show NG, it is identified
as Microdrive NG.
